Rechargeable Repairs Policy – Tenant Update

We have recently undertaken a comprehensive review of our Rechargeable Repairs (RR) Policy and Procedures.  This review has been carried out to ensure that our approach is clear, transparent, fair and consistently applied across all rechargeable repairs.

As a result of the review, the policy and associated procedures have been fully revised.  The updated process provides greater clarity on the circumstances in which a repair may be rechargeable to a tenant, how decisions will be made and how any charges will be communicated.

It is important that tenants are aware that, where a repair is determined to be rechargeable under the revised policy, Glasgow West will apply the appropriate charge.  This forms part of our responsibility to manage our housing stock effectively and ensure that the cost of repairs is appropriately allocated.

The revised policy also strengthens the process for assessing and recording rechargeable repairs, providing greater consistency and transparency for tenants and the Association.

The revised Rechargeable Repairs Policy and Procedures will be fully implemented from 1 October 2026.

We recognise that being charged for a repair can be concerning and we are committed to ensuring that any recharge is based on a clear and consistent assessment and that tenants are provided with appropriate information about the reason for the charge.
