Management Committee
The Management Committee consists of a maximum of 12 Members (including co-optees) who are elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), which generally takes place in June; or who are appointed at any time, for a specified term, by the Management Committee. Anyone who is interested in learning about GWHA, or is considering serving on the Management Committee, is encouraged to participate in our Committee Training Forum. Training and induction is provided for new Committee Members.
At all times the majority of Members on the Management Committee must be elected at the AGM. Any shareholder can be nominated to stand for election. One third of the existing elected members must retire each year and can stand for re-election. If there are more nominations than places available, a ballot will be held.
At the first meeting of the Committee after the AGM, the Committee elects from within its number, a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer known as Office-Bearers. The role and authority of the Management Committee and other such matters are set out in our Rules , which were approved by our shareholding members at a Special General Meeting on 25th August 2020.
Glasgow West Housing Association’s Management Committee publishes its Minutes from April 2019 onwards; as required by the Scottish Housing Regulator and also in the spirit of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act which applies from 11 Nov 2019. Any confidential minutes will not be published but we rarely generate such minutes unless strictly necessary.
The Committee meets monthly with the exception of July and December. Minutes will be posted once they have been approved at the following Committee meeting. We will aim to record the minute so that it is concise but also informative, to the wider public, not just those attending the meeting.
