Occasionally you may have bigger items, you no longer require, and that you wish to dispose of. There are several options for disposal.
Charity Collection from inside your home
There are local organisations that would be pleased to receive suitable furniture items, in a reasonable condition, that could be used by someone else. Please check the internet to explore this further. You could consider The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice on 0141 429 9884, or similar.
Fly Tipping & Bulk Waste Collection
If you have any household bulk items to dispose of Total Homes can collect it from your door.
Please contact Glasgow West Housing Association direct on 0141 428 3247, or email estates@glasgowwestha.co.uk to confirm items requiring uplift. You will be given a collection reference number and any additional information relating to the uplift at that time, typically within 48hrs.
How did we get here?
Following our resident consultation process around the issues faced by the withdrawal of the Glasgow City Council Bulky Waste collection service we are pleased to confirm that we will be working in partnership with Total Homes to address fly tipping issues, and to pilot a sustainable bulk waste management service to help improve our neighbourhoods. Over the coming months this will include:
· Adopting and promoting Recover, Reduce, Repair, Reuse, and Recycling principles,
· Items being collected and sorted rather than going direct to landfill,
· Exploring the operational challenges of implementing this service,
· Developing our frontline process and procedures,
· Promotion and guidance through social media, newsletters,
For more information on Total Homes please check out their website: www.total-homes.com

Safety & The Law
Under no circumstances should bulky items be left inside the common close areas of your building as this can create a potential fire hazard. Glasgow West as Property Factors have a duty under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 to review risk presented by items left in the close and take action where deemed necessary. We will endeavour to identify the party responsible for the item and provide the suitable advice in the first instance.
Fly-Tipping
Leaving any larger items in a public space is considered fly-tipping and can result in a fine imposed by Glasgow City Council. To report instances of fly-tipping please call the Environmental Task Force on 0300 343 7027 or report it on the MyGlasgow app.
