We have spoken to the DWP about concerns around the impact COVID-19 (Coronavirus) will have on any existing claims people will have. They advised that they are doing everything they can to identify and support all of their customers with the following:

• They are previewing appointments and, where possible, carrying them out over the phone and they will not be booking any future appointments.
• They are prioritising new claims and payments to ensure everyone has access to their benefits. This includes, for new claims, ID verification and habitual residence tests being completed by phone. This enables the claim to proceed and advance being available.
• They understand that people may not be able to hand in fit notes and benefits will not be stopped as a result. 
• Medical assessments are being suspended and, again, benefits will not be affected.
• If you are unable to attend an appointment due to self-isolating, or you have COVID-19 (Coronavirus), they ask that customers advise them by phone or via your account that you are not able to attend the Jobcentre.
