The Electrical Safety Roundtable (ESR) has launched a new national campaign, Safety Starts at Your Door: Let Me In!, which aims to encourage social housing tenants across the UK to allow access for essential electrical safety checks. The campaign highlights the importance of routine inspections in keeping homes safe and preventing electrical hazards.

As part of the campaign, ESR has issued guidance explaining what tenants can expect during a visit from a qualified electrician — including visual checks, testing of wiring and circuits, and the production of an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), which helps identify any issues that could pose a risk.  

GWHA already carries out these inspections in line with legal requirements and our duty of care to tenants. We are sharing the ESR campaign to help raise awareness of why access for safety checks matters and how these visits help ensure that electrical installations remain safe and well maintained.
