Contractor: Consult Lift Services
Specialist Consultant: Robin Primrose Partnership
Glasgow West Housing Association have completed Lift Modernisation works to 3no. passenger lifts serving 5no. deck access multi storey buildings.
The previous equipment had last been refurbished around 1990 and the lifts had reached the end of their life cycle and investment was required to avoid unreliability and deterioration of the equipment.
The major modernisation works of each lift installation incorporating new lift cabins and slings, new car doors and door operators, new fire rated landing entrances, utilising open protocol microprocessor control and closed loop VVVF drive systems to maximise ride quality and energy efficiency together with new matched motors and gearboxes, brakes, ropes, pulleys and sheaves.
During the works the lift shafts required to be waterproofed due to ground water ingressing into the lift pit. In order to protect the lift equipment from increased moisture levels the lift pits were tanked using a cement waterproof render.
The new lifts installed provides a reliable service and any replacement parts are readily available to avoid unnecessary disruption.
