You will be offered a private appointment with your Services Officer. If you are unable to come into the office we will offer a home visit at a mutually agreed time and date.403_help

HOW CAN A HOUSING OFFICER HELP ME?
Our staff are trained to deal with your problems confidentially.
They can:

  • Agree an arrangement to pay your rent arrears in weekly, fortnightly or monthly instalments
  • Help identify benefits you may be entitled to.
  • Refer you to our Welfare Benefits Advisers for support and assistance.
  • Refer you to outside agencies. Citizens Advice Bureau and Drumchapel Money Advice Centre attend the office on Wednesday mornings. An appointment can be arranged for you.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I IGNORE MY ARREARS?
We will do everything within our power to help you stay in your home. If arrears continue to accrue we may  consider taking legal action against any tenant who continues to ignore their arrears, in some cases this may lead to eviction.
Please do not let this happen to you. Speak to us.

WHAT OTHER ACTION CAN YOU TAKE TO COLLECT MY ARREARS?
We will make every effort to help you deal with your rent arrears but you must work with us. If we cannot reach an agreement with you or you break an arrangement to pay arrears we may consider further action.
For example:403_gavel

  • Apply for the rent you owe to be deducted from your benefit.
  • Apply to the court to claim part of your wages.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR US TO COLLECT RENT?
A large part of your rent goes directly into repairing and maintaining your home.  We also use part towards upgrading your and other tenants’ homes.
