From all at Glasgow West we’d like to wish you a Happy New Year! 2020 was a difficult year for many, bringing about many unprecedented challenges, understandably causing a lot of anxiety and uncertainty. As we embark on 2021 we wish for your continued safety and wellbeing amidst the challenges ahead, and re-iterate our commitment to provide you with the continued assistance and support needed during these especially challenging times – we’re here to help.

We’re keeping our service provision under continuous review, taking account of the emerging restrictions and advice. As of 5th January 2021 Scotland has re-entered national lockdown. Our current service provision is as follows:

Our Offices
  • Our central office continues to be closed, however we are able to offer appointments on Wednesdays for any critical matter(s) that cannot be resolved by telephone or email.  
  • The majority of our staff are homeworking in line with Government advice. 
  • We anticipate ongoing disruption in our response timescales and service standards: examples include responding to postal mail, Freedom of Information requests and Formal Complaints. 
Concierge Stations
  • Our concierge stations are closed.
  • Concierge teams are focussed on day-shift duties. Priority is being given to cleaning of high-touch areas. Any changes to this service will be communicated in a timely manner.
Repairs
  • Our contractors will attend to Emergency repairs only and they will do so at the earliest opportunity. The Statutory Right to Repair is currently suspended. Our routine repairs service is currently suspended. A repair is an emergency if a delay in attending to it could represent a significant risk to health, safety or security, or could cause significant damage to property.
  • To report an Emergency Repair during normal working hours (Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm) please call 0141 331 6652.
  • To report an Emergency Repair outwith normal working hours, please call City Building on 0800 595 595. This number is freephone from landlines and mobiles.
  • Resumption of the routine repairs service will be implemented on a phased basis, subject to emerging guidance. Any subsequent changes to GWHA service provision will be communicated to Tenants in a timely manner. 
  • We continue to undertake annual gas services in Tenant’s homes in line with our statutory obligations and Government guidelines. If your service is due we will make contact several weeks in advance. We request your co-operation in agreeing access arrangements, disclosing whether you have experienced any Covid-19 symptoms, and in your continued adherence to maintaining social distancing while our contractors are in your home. 
  • In line with current Government advice, trades-people are still permitted to access your home to carry out essential works or services. Gas Safety checks fall within the Scottish Government’s definition of essential works. 
Environmental Services
  • There are no planned changes to the Local Authority refuse collection arrangements.
  • Routine Environmental Services, as per the expected Winter schedule, are now being undertaken with the service recovery actions complete. The Close Cleaning recovery plan is complete with Caledonian Maintenance undertaking scheduled weekly / fortnightly cleaning. Thank you for your patience as your contractors worked to complete the recovery initiative.
  • Glasgow City Council Bulk uplift services resumed on Thursday 10th December on a request only uplift basis. Please read the full details here. Previous kerb-side bulk waste collection arrangements are no longer applicable. To ensure Fire Safety in the common areas of your home please keep stairs/ landings and basements clear of bulk items. 
  • If you become aware of something that is a hazard please call 101 for advice, and send an email to our Estates Team.
